‘Something in the Air: the Landscape Photography of John Myers’, in John Myers: Middle England

Over a period of about seven years between 1972 and 1979, John Myers produced a body of remarkable landscape photographs. The images themselves are deceptively simple – indeed, many of them appear to be pictures of not very much at all. Yet these apparently prosaic photographs address a complex network of concerns, some pictorial, some political. They offer an incisive commentary on the rapidly changing landscape of the West Midlands in the 1970s, and a unique and sophisticated photographic vision.
